The first chapter of our story was written in June 2013, when, founded upon the desire to be the favourite venue for food and beverages, for social gatherings and business meets, Pie Harbour came to be. At that time, no one had any idea that from such a humble premise, we would become one of the most recognized homegrown F&B chains in Penang.
When we first set forth, we established our very first Pie Harbour kitchen in the busy part of Bukit Dumbar, Jelutong which also served as our headquarters. We realized after a while that having an outlet which was also the kitchen did not really work for us. We took a step back, relooked our strategies and in August 2013, after months of planning, we launched our second outlet in Gurney Paragon Mall which is located along Penang’s iconic Gurney Drive. We wanted to bring something new and fresh to excite the local palate and win over the hearts of the many foodies here. After all Penang is considered a Food Paradise.
Housed in a chic cottage styled urbanesque facade and interior decor, Pie Harbour was adamant in promoting good food and great times within a homely, conducive and friendly environment. We also wanted to share with Penangites the appetizing appeal of the gourmet pie. Considered by many to be Australia’s national food, we found that the pie in its many flavours and styles would really appeal to Penangites as an alternative to fast food faves like burgers and fried chicken. Growing our menu to add in Asian and Western meals, an exhaustive list of beverages, desserts and salads also meant that our diners would always be spoiled for choice.
Fast forward a few years and we’ve already charted so many milestones. Breaking out of Penang, we’ve also opened an outlet in Sunway Putra Mall in Kuala Lumpur, the nation’s capitol. In Penang alone, we’re now running three outlets, all located at prime strategic locations (in G-Hotel, Gurney Paragon Mall and Maritime on Karpal Singh Drive). Besides the new outlets, our menu has also grown by leaps and bounds with new items constantly added to challenge the status quo. From signature juices to Lacci Summer Drinks, Croissant Sandwiches to Fusion Pasta, Pie Harbour does indeed offer one endearing culinary adventure for food connoisseurs.
Along the way, we’ve also started programmes to improve our human resource capabilities as we believe people are at the centre of making a business great. With so much done and yet so much more to look forward to, we are indeed excited at the potential and possibilities that lie ahead. Regardless, at Pie Harbour, we are exceptionally proud of the company we’ve become today.
